What to Expect at Born2Grind Fall 2026 Tryouts

Tryout season is here. Born2Grind Athletics Fall 2026 Elite Club Team tryouts are set for August 13 & 14 in Maple Ridge, and if your player has been putting in the work all summer, this is their moment to show it.

Whether this is your first time at a B2G tryout or you're coming back for another season, here's everything you need to know before you step on the court.

How the Two Days Work

Day 1 — Thursday, August 13: Skills Evaluation & Drills

The first day is all about individual skill assessment. Coaches will run players through ball-handling sequences, shooting mechanics, defensive footwork, and one-on-one situations. This is where players show their technical foundation and their ability to absorb coaching in real time.

Day 2 — Friday, August 14: Scrimmages & Final Selections

Day two shifts to live game situations. Coaches evaluate how players compete, communicate, and perform under pressure. This is where character shows — effort on defense, willingness to make the extra pass, and how a player responds after a mistake.

What Coaches Are Looking For

Born2Grind coaches aren't just looking for the most skilled player in the gym. They're building a team. Here's what gets noticed:

  • Athleticism and court awareness — Can you read the game and be in the right place?
  • Ball handling and shooting mechanics — Fundamentals matter at every level.
  • Defensive intensity — Effort on defense is a choice. Make it.
  • Coachability — Players who listen, adjust, and apply feedback stand out immediately.
  • Competitive drive — We want players who compete on every possession, not just when it's easy.
